The Mother, at times, is absent. She laughs without appearing to hear the question, the laughter is abrupt and sporadic, deliberately inappropriate, follow-up questions are typically ignored or responded to inappropriately and without the correspondence of acknowledgement or concern for common decorum.

The Child plays the piano, or reads or sews dolls together; she paints landscapes and portraits (but never finishes any); and the Mother sits and does nothing. The interaction between the two is foreign, during a brief moment of coherency the Mother made a peculiar reply about the Child. She said, "for a child that does not exist, there are lots of questions about her". The Mother is extremely troubled but artful in intellect, genius to a degree, fascinating. She recited my previous counseling lecture almost beautifully, and without hesitation, calling psychology "parasitic", while staring blankly at Doctor Boyd and myself. She used the word "husk" to describe her skin and religiosity. There is absolutely no tenderness in her. The mental illness is unconsciously impossible to alleviate and, by inheritance, it is not manipulated as discussed in Doctor Brown's notes, her sense of suitability is abstract, the executive personality, the Mother... is without question conscientious of the others and often forecasts aggression and the steward personality surfaces, the cognitive dissonance is remarkable, she has restructured the cluster of personalities in accordance to a new schedule and polarization among the divergent and contrasting personalities. I believe that Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is quite evident here in this case study, and the Mother's operant conditioning is relative to reciprocal determinism, which leads us to the unique and perplexing personality, the "sweet" personality, which may be the most frightening, as Dr. Boyd elegantly stated in the last session, the honey of her words seems to squelch the laughter and quell the anger, she is not frightened by the others, but rather frightening to them - which is extremely alarming to say the least.
