"job"

Everything in this place is smoky, the walls are topaz colored and the dancing girls kiss the crucifix around their necks, there are gentlemen with expensive suits at a round table, their armed guards are nearby as they have a discussion, I am recognized as the child of someone important, I nod and almost curtsy, my name is called from a well lit hallway in the back, two girls are fawning and about to kiss as they touch each other's hair, I walk into a luxurious office and sit in my overly comfortable chair as warm feminine hands touch my shoulders and squeeze gently, a peck on the cheek, I try to smile, but things are bad for me, this is a bland moment for most people, but not me, I love this moment and that's why I am sharing it, it's a simple moment in a life that no one knows about.

Hours later and the man is still in the "room". I see his feet, a shoe is missing and the blood pooling. My dead eyes catch one of the girls nervously fidgeting with her phone, a manager sees it as well, and takes her by the arm into an office. The same hands that squeezed my shoulders earlier, lightly caress in between my shoulder blades, I turn around and smile, I am given a thick envelope, I don't open it, pleasantries are exchanged, a compliment and sadness within me, she kisses the same cheek as before, only harder, my hand is taken and squeezed and this scene melts in the glowing lights, the strange vapors and morning eyes of the girls drunkenly sitting at the table having their drinks and lines of cocaine like customers, a well-dressed man sits alone in the booth, there is a gun on his table, he sits there like a stone, he is looking right at me, I make a gun hand gesture at him and pull the imaginary trigger, he pretends to grab his heart, and he audibly laughs and smiles, I wave, and he nods and waves back, and that's it, my ride is here, I can see the vehicle through the windows, I have to go home now.
