I don't know why I wanted them to be like my brother. He would take me to the mountains, he'd fish for trout, I hardly ever did, I don't like fishing, but I loved being in the forest and seeing the raging water and down the path, the calmness, my sister inspecting a perfect pine cone, she is a hiker, it was Heaven to me, I saw an otter one time and plenty of deer, but the most amazing thing I saw was a bear, I couldn't believe it, and it ran away, it was baby…but it was huge.
My brother would cook us the trout he caught, he didn't have much to put on it, it was a manly thing if you catch my drift, it ended up being ...pretty much trout and butter, but we were all hungry, and it was the best food I've ever eaten, I'll never forget it, it was a perfect day, I had so much fun just being there, watching my brother fish, he had waders, he's a professional compared to all of us.
I remember talking to my sister on this adventure, she doesn't fish either, but she talks and talks and talks…so we'd go for walks while my brother was catching every rainbow trout in the river, and we found a secret cove, it was beautiful, lagoon blue water, it made you wanna breathe through your eyelids, it made your heart beat like a drum, my sister wanted to get in the water, I just stood there with my feet in water, I ain't about that life, and we didn't have bathing costumes, so this wild girl, my lovely sister, God bless her, pulled off her shorts, and went right in the water.
Eventually, there were boaters, hooting and hollering at us, it's Georgia, and she stood up and waved at them, purple panties and all, I'll never forget that, she is like a savage sometimes, my brother too, me too, this hurts my heart so bad, I'd give anything for one day like this again, and I can't have it, it will never happen, this memory lives in me, it's all I have and it hurts me.
